Discover the Art of Ikebana

Pink camelia flowers and branches with pink blossoms arrange in a yellow vase

Are you looking to embrace creativity and tranquility through a timeless art form? Presented by the Living Peace Museum, this one-time program during May’s Asian Heritage Month offers an opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty and elegance of art of Japanese flower arranging – Ikebana.

Ikebana is said to have been introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and is a disciplined art form deeply rooted in Japanese culture, emphasizing harmony, balance, and simplicity. Every element in an Ikebana arrangement from the choice of flowers to the use of space, carries meaning and intent. Ikebana encourages you to slow down, connect with nature, and expression through the delicate beauty of flowers.

The Living Peace Museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and fostering understanding of peace through heritage traditions. The society promotes culturally-diverse interpretations of peace, both locally and globally through partnerships with various cultural communities.

Explore the art of Ikebana with instructor Hidemi Nishibata, from the Raukyo Mishiryo Ikebana School in Kyoto. To register, visit the workshop event page here. Space is limited, so do not miss the chance to experience the harmony of nature and the seasons, through this exclusive opporunity.
