DESCRIPTION:The Steveston Tram museum transforms into the Winter Tram for the month of December – climb aboard and explore the history of interurban travel in Richmond. Don’t miss the junior tram conductor dress-up station and strike a pose with the historic tram\, all decked-out for the holidays! Open December 1 to 31 (closed Mondays and stat holidays) 10am to 4pm. Admission is free. \nWinter Tram kicks off with a tree-lighting ceremony on December 1st at 4:45pm\, hosted by Tourism Richmond. Come meet Santa\, and enjoy some entertainment and light refreshments. \nJoin us for storytime on board historic Tram Car 1220\, with readings by the Richmond Public Library of “The Polar Express” on December 7 (Sat) and 15 (Sun) – reading times at 2\, 2:40 & 3:20pm. They are rooted in folk\, country\, Celtic and jazz\, drawing inspiration from larger-than- life stories and lived in experiences. The trio represets an incredible blend of influences\, with Maya’s Celtic fiddle background in Vancouver\, Daniel’s guitar playing with its Prairie origins\, combined with Atlin’s classical training. Where will it be when you visit? \nNew this Spring Break is the “Name our Passenger Pig” contest. Drop by to submit your suggestion to name our most popular tram passenger (in-person only). The winning submission will then be selected by the Tram team\, and revealed in April! \nName me! \nOther activities during Spring Break at the Tram: \n\nA LEGO station where children can be inspired by Tram Car 1220 to build different kinds of models that move.\nA scavenger hunt with two levels of difficulty.\nA hands-on exhibit area\, including a hand brake and bell for children to try\, and a dress-up corner with conductor costumes.\nFor those children who have not yet joined the popular Junior Conductor program\, ask for a special ticket to be marked for each return visit to the Steveston Tram to earn badges.\n\nFinally\, let us not forget the centre piece of the Steveston Tram – Tram Car 1220. This beautifully restored Interurban tram built by the St. Louis Car Company in 1912 is the highlight of any visit. Its wooden and woven rattan seats finished in brass and bathed in a golden light makes the perfect backdrop for a family selfie and a Spring Break day out to remember. \nEntry to the Steveston Tram is free.
