Family Day Weekend at Steveston Tram

Illustration of Steveston Tram with Family Day Weekend banner and yellow and blue coloured balloon patterns.

Visit the Steveston Tram on Family Day weekend (February 17-20, 2023) for the official launch of the new family-friendly exhibit.

The updated experience invites you be hands-on with history. Come visit to explore exciting interactive displays, a three-dimensional timeline, and a light up map that traces the routes of the historic interurban tram. Take souvenir photos in our Junior Tram Conductor dress-up costumes. See the new LEGO model of Tram Car 1220 and the Steveston Tram Barn, by local LEGO creator Peter Grant.

Premiering as part of the exhibit, is the new Richmond Stories short video about the history of the Tram in Steveston. Viewers can get a glimpse into the lives of the many diverse people who rode Tram Car 1220 for work and pleasure, including the charming, real-life love story between a Tram worker and a regular Steveston rider. The video will also be available for viewing online on the City of Richmond’s YouTube Channel.

For younger visitors, activities include a Tram Conductor dress-up corner, a reading area filled with books about trains, and a tram-themed stamping activity to take home.

There will also be a LEGO table for children to create their own transportation masterpieces. Look for the return of the Junior Conductor program, where kids receive a punch card to record their visits and earn prizes.

Lots to explore and learn for tram lovers of all ages!

Open 12 to 4pm. Admission is free.
