Volunteer Week at the Steveston Tram: Honouring Our Amazing Volunteers
The Steveston Tram may be a small museum, but as we all know, great things often come in small packages. At the Steveston Tram, we believe that the true value of a museum experience is not determined by its size—it’s about the stories, the people, and the connections created. And that’s where our incredible volunteers play an essential role.
National Volunteer Week: April 27 to May 3, 2025
In celebration of National Volunteer Week we acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our volunteers.
How Our Volunteers Make a Difference
In 2024, 67 dedicated volunteers collectively contributed 1,159 hours across 17 different volunteer opportunities. These volunteers support a wide range of roles, each contributing to a memorable experience for Steveston Tram visitors.
Here are a few ways our volunteers help make the Steveston Tram special:
- Specialist Volunteers: These passionate individuals share their knowledge and enthusiasm about trams with visitors, offering expert guidance on a regular, long-term basis.
- Special Event Volunteers: From one-time events to recurring help, these volunteers bring energy and support to our unique events throughout the year, ensuring each event is a success.
- Greeter Volunteers: The first impression is everything, and our greeter volunteers create a welcoming atmosphere, helping guests feel at home from the moment they arrive.
- Neurodiverse Volunteers: We are proud to work with neurodiverse students and adults who help care for and clean Tram Car 1220. Through this work, they learn valuable skills while contributing to the preservation of this important piece of history.
Why Volunteers Matter at the Steveston Tram
Our volunteers play a critical role in expanding and enriching the visitor experience. Their dedication helps us maximize the impact of our space and ensures that every visitor leaves with unforgettable memories to share.
Steveston Tram would not be the vibrant, welcoming place it is today without the selfless contributions of our volunteers. Whether greeting visitors, sharing their expertise, or assisting with events, every volunteer makes a significant impact.
A Heartfelt Thank You
We express our deepest gratitude to all our volunteers, past and present. Their time, energy, and commitment make the Steveston Tram a place of connection, learning, and fun.
