The Richmond Carvers Society will be showcasing their skills and projects on select days this summer from May to September, beginning Sunday May 25, 2025, 12noon to 4pm.

Visit the Murakami Boatworks building (unless otherwise noted in calendar below) and observe these skilled artisans working on their craft. Visitors can engage directly with members of the Richmond Carvers Society and ask questions, learn techniques, and get a close-up view of their talents.

Woodworking has a rich legacy at Britannia Shipyards, intertwined with the stories of Japanese Canadian boat builders who contributed to Steveston’s fishing trade, and the skilled artisans who undertook boat repairs and maintenance in later years. Explore the various heritage buildings and exhibits during your visit, and discover the boat building and shipyard traditions that have shaped this maritime hub.
