Seeking local educators to help shape a new Steveston Tram field trip program!
We’re developing a new program at the Steveston Tram for preschool, Kindergarten and Grade 1 classes (ages 3–6), and we’d love your input.
The pilot will explore ideas around transportation, travelling by tram, and the people who helped make the journey possible, such as conductors, motormen and passengers. Through pretend-play and hands-on activities, children will begin to discover how people moved around Richmond in the past and present.
We are pleased to offer a unique opportunity to bring your class for a free field trip to help pilot the program before it officially launches. In exchange, we kindly ask participating educators to share their time and professional insight to help us refine the experience.
Teachers participating in the free program are expected to complete the following pre/post field trip evaluation
Before the program:
- Participate in a one-hour online meeting between October 11 and 17, 2026 to review the program outline and activities.
- Dedicate approximately one hour to reviewing program-related materials before the field trip.
- The free field trip will take place between November 9 and 13, 2026.
After the program:
- Participate in a one-hour online meeting within one week of your visit to share feedback and help us refine the program before its official launch.
Eligible educators must meet the following criteria:
- Teach or work with children ages 3–6, from preschool through Grade 1.
- Be interested in helping us shape a new, interactive program at the Steveston Tram.
- Be available for the online review meeting and field trip during the dates listed below.
- Be willing to provide thoughtful feedback based on both the educator and student experience.
- Priority will be given to Richmond-based educators and groups.
Important Dates
- Application deadline: October 4, 2026
- Pre-visit online meeting: October 11–17, 2026
- Free field trip: November 9–13, 2026
- Post-visit feedback meeting: within one week of your field trip
