Celebrate the arrival of the Kaiwo Maru tall ship from Japan during Richmond’s Ship to Shore weekend on May 2 & 3, 2026.

While in Steveston, visit the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site and make an origami samurai hat (“kabuto”) or sailboat to celebrate May 5th Children’s Day in Japan and Asian Heritage Month in May. Drop by 10am to 5pm at Murakami Boatworks. Admission is free!
