Are there any cultural traditions that have been passed down and celebrated by your families?

Japanese Canadian children may remember writing their wishes on colourful paper and hanging them on bamboo branches for the July 7th Tanabata Star Festival, celebrated annually in Japan.

On July 1st and 5th, come to Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, take part in this tradition and leave your own wishes to decorate our Tanabata display.

For more on the background of this festival, visit this blog post from a couple years ago.

Date/time: July 1st Tuesday and July 5th Saturday  11am to 4pm
Location: Murakami House
Admission is free
