The Steveston Tram museum transforms into the Winter Tram for the month of December – climb aboard and explore the history of interurban travel in Richmond. Don’t miss the junior tram conductor dress-up station and strike a pose with the historic tram, all decked-out for the holidays! Open December 1 to 31 (closed Mondays and stat holidays) 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
Winter Tram kicks off with a tree-lighting ceremony on December 1st at 4:45pm, hosted by Tourism Richmond. Come meet Santa, and enjoy some entertainment and light refreshments.
Join us for storytime on board historic Tram Car 1220, with readings by the Richmond Public Library of “The Polar Express” on December 7 (Sat) and 15 (Sun) – reading times at 2, 2:40 & 3:20pm. Free admission with limited seating; tickets for each storytime will be handed out 15 minutes before each seating, first-come, first-served.
Find transportation and holiday themed books to read in the cozy reading nook, available during open hours Tues-Sunday 12-4pm.
Enjoy a winter-themed scavenger hunt with holiday items throughout the Tram building, and follow clues to look for Hamm on the Tram in different hiding spots. Receive a special tram bookmark to keep track of how many times you’ve spotted our pig stuffy Hamm!
And don’t miss a special holiday LEGO display of Richmond heritage buildings by “Mr. LEGO” Peter Grant. On display in the Tram building window beginning December 1st.
