Get out your sleigh bells out — The Polar Express is rolling into the Steveston Tram this December.
On Saturday December 6 and Sunday December 14, librarians from the Richmond Public Library will bring Chris Van Allsburg’s beloved holiday classic to life aboard Steveston’s own beautifully restored interurban tram, Tram Car 1220.
At 112 years old, Tram Car 1220 carries the same nostalgic charm as the passenger train car in Allsburg’s story, making it the perfect, cozy venue for an imagined journey to the North Pole.
Tram travellers can also enjoy making a gift tag to take home to tie to a present or hang on a tree, and take some time to explore the Steveston Tram with a winter holiday-themed scavenger hunt.
Storytimes are at 2pm, 2:40pm, and 3:20pm. Admission is free, with limited seating. Tickets will be handed out 15 minutes before each session, first-come, first-served.
All aboard for a little holiday magic in Steveston!
