Doors Open Richmond 2026 – Powered by the Past at the Steveston Tram

Doors Open Richmond 2026 at the Steveston Tram will be an “electrifying” experience on Sunday, June 7, from 10am to 5pm.

Step aboard and discover how the interurban trams ran on electricity more than 100 years ago. Learn how the trams used hydroelectric power, and how the tram line brought electricity to Richmond and all the way to Steveston for the first time.

Visitors of all ages can explore how electricity works through fun, hands-on activities. Try building a “lemon circuit” or create a graphite circuit to learn how electricity needs both a power source and a path to travel.

From 1pm to 4pm, the Richmond Public Library will demonstrate child-friendly circuit kits with easy click-together pieces. These kits can be borrowed from the library and help people of all ages learn how electricity flows through different kinds of circuits.

There will be plenty to discover, create, and explore throughout the day. Whether you are curious about science, local history, or hands-on activities, the Steveston Tram is a great stop during Doors Open Richmond 2026.

Visit DOORS OPEN RICHMOND – Richmond Museum for more information about other participating sites and activities across Richmond during the June 6 and 7, 2026 weekend.
