The Richmond Nature Park Society’s traveling Urban Wildlife exhibit “Nature in Your Neighbourhood”, is now on display inside the Seine Net Loft at Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site.
Visitors to the City of Richmond may be surprised to find out that this place is home to many species of wildlife.
But many Richmond residents are familiar with raccoons, snow geese, owls, beavers, and even coyotes, found in our neighbourhoods next to farmlands, beaches, forests, and the river that surrounds us.
How did these animals get here and why do they stay? One big reason is that the wildlife have adapted to areas made more livable by human activity. They find it easier to find food, shelter, and protection from natural predators.
Learn about our connections to and stewardship of the plants, animals, and human communities that live together along the Fraser River. Take a look at the different displays, including coyotes, raccoons, snow geese and the secretive, nocturnal barn owl, and learn how we can live alongside these animals, without causing harm to each other.

Drop by the Seine Net Loft, open daily 10am to 5pm to catch this mini-exhibit, on display until the end of August 2025.
